KIC Innoenergy: Disruptive Innovation
In light of the ongoing energy transition, some InnoEnergy shareholders have perceived that their future position is degrading, unless they are able to continuously reinvent their product/service portfolio. However, these large firms also perceive their organizational flexibility as too low to repeatedly and successfully develop and commercialize major innovations that may create the path to their continued relevance. The current project is driven by the expectations of the shareholders of InnoEnergy for a service to be developed in InnoEnergy to facilitate the major innovation efforts of incumbent energy firms. In response, Madis Talmar (ITEM) along with a team set up by InnoEnergy Benelux has created a novel service package (henceforth: program) that entails the systematic creation and orchestration of collaboration-based major innovation in the energy domain. The program entails facilitating a path for the energy incumbent to go through all major stages of innovation from visioning a future industrial landscape, to ideation of specific new services, to actually accomplishing these services.
