PhD workshop Design Science

Publishing Innovation Management Research Informed by Design Science

The ITEM group offers a hands-on workshop for PhD students and junior faculty who are seeking constructive feedback on work-in-progress that draws on design science, which they intend to publish in leading journals in the area of innovation management and organization studies.

The (preparation of the) workshop is designed as follows:

PhD students or junior scholars can submit the abstract of the paper they would like to discuss before February 23th to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ; in addition to an abstract, the proposal also needs to describe the target journal as well as the status of the paper (e.g. “data collection is completed, but paper is largely unwritten”; “about half of the paper is currently developed”; “fully developed paper, almost ready for journal submission”).

At 28 February (at the latest), we’ll inform authors about whether their paper is accepted and we send out the preliminary program.

Full versions of the papers have to be made available at May 7th (at the latest), so panel members have sufficient time to read them before the workshop.

We expect to be able to host a maximum of 6 papers, with a time slot of 1 hour for each paper (max. 15 minutes for presentation & 40 minutes for feedback & discussion); this implies two parallel tracks of three papers each, with at  least two panel members assigned to each paper.

In addition to the lead authors of the papers discussed, a limited number of additional participants can join the workshop to contribute to the discussion.

The panel involves the following scholars:

Dimo Dimov (University of Bath)
Jan Holmström (Aalto University)
Isabelle Reymen (TU/e)
Bob Walrave (TU/e)
Georges Romme (TU/e)

Submission deadline: Abstracts of papers can be submitted until February 23, 2018 (see first bullit above).

Convenors: Madis Talmar, Bob Walrave, Georges Romme
Time: Monday, 14 May 2018, 14:00 – 17:30
Location: TU/e campus, Vertigo building (rooms 8.06 and 9.06)

This workshop takes place in the afternoon of May 14, after the public defense of Madis Talmar’s dissertation (from 11:00 to 12:30) in Auditorium of the TU/e.
